The Challenge

Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona had manual processes that no longer made sense. It had over a dozen systems that did not work together, creating inefficiencies for employees. Additionally, inefficient systems led to confusing, manual, paper-based processes with no ability to use data for actionable insight. After streamlining its point of sale system in recent years, Goodwill leaders recognized the need to modernize their ERP.

Key Highlights

Workday deployed by Avaap

Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona selected Workday Financial Management, Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), and Workday Payroll to bring valuable insight and streamline many of its existing systems. The project focus was to bring Goodwill to a streamlined application for HR, payroll, and financial transactions and create an easy-to-use solution for employees, and that could scale as the organization continues to grow.

IMPROVED EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE

Goodwill has seen value in streamlined applications for accessing information and increasing efficiency. Employees have access to their payroll information at their fingertips. Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona has also  experienced improvement in the hiring and referral processes.

Goodwill experienced the benefit of cloud technology firsthand when the organization acquired more locations during its deployment. “The combination of Workday and Avaap really made sense for us and made the most sense for us to consolidate HR, Finance, and Payroll onto one system and to position us for future growth,” said Vice President of Information Technology, Bill Serva.

GOODWILL OF CENTRAL AND NORTHERN ARIZONA AND AVAAP

Following deployment, Goodwill expanded their Workday footprint with Talent, Performance, Learning, and Prism.

Goodwill of Northern and Central Arizona engaged the Avaap Workday Application Management Services (AMS) team for post-go-live support. “It never occurred to us to use anyone else,” said Jessica Sample,  senior manager, HRMS and Workforce Analytics at Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona. “We knew Avaap as a company and its people and they knew us. Our company cultures are similar, and as we’ve gone through our support years, there is consistency in the way things are done.”

Continuous Value with Avaap AMS

Goodwill continues to enhance its Workday investment to ensure its users benefit from leading practices.

“We rely on Avaap’s consultants’ expertise. When we submit a ticket, we know we are getting the expert in that specific module, whether it is Time Tracking, Applicant Tracking, or Payroll,” said Jessica Sample,  senior manager, HRMS and Workforce Analytics at Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona. “While our team has a general understanding of all the modules, we rely on Avaap for capacity to support us and the in-depth knowledge of Workday.”
