Inforum is Infor’s largest customer conference, boasting more than 7,000 attendees in New Orleans. Much of the talk was about moving to the cloud and how Infor is doing it differently than any other company out there. Want to share in the Inforum experience? Here is what we took away from the show:
Innovation – Vertical expertise and the ability to innovate faster, go deeper and take that innovation to the cloud was the theme of day one’s general session. Infor CEO Charles Phillips and other Infor luminaries addressed the filled auditorium to talk strategy and how Infor’s focus will be to specialize in the application layer, increase adoption of open source and use Amazon cloud so the infrastructure is as close to free as possible.
Networking – More than 1,500 education sessions were offered at Inforum, but much of the knowledge sharing happened on the main show floor. Connecting with our customers, whether that’s learning of upcoming projects or sharing how Avaap is influencing the development of Infor Xi, is an opportunity we value. So much communication happens over the phone or via email, so to have personal interactions with customers and other Infor users is special.
Fan-atic behavior – Prior to rocking out with Journey for customer appreciation night, attendees gathered on the show floor for a cocktail party. Team Avaap got the crowd riled up with a “toss for dollars” ballgame at their booth. Customers and other Infor users flung more than 100 foam baseballs in attempt to landing one in one of three countertop jars. If you joined in the fun and left with one of the balls, send us your picture with it and we’ll feature you in a future issue of Avaap Insider.
Orleans – During the course of the week we spotted people wearing beads (OK, we handed them out at our booth), enjoyed the spice jazz marching band that kicked off opening session, ate Cajun cuisine and experienced Bourbon Street. Many customers attended our taste of New Orleans at Maison Bourbon and jammed to the stylings of saxophone player LC Smoove and the band at My Bar.
Riveting presentations – Avaap’s Brett Weiss delivered two dynamic presentations on tools to enhance Infor Lawson usability and Avaap Test Automation. Deborah Norville keynoted a special session on innovation. Barry P. Chaiken, MD, Chief Medical Information Officer of Infor, and Steve Fanning, Vice President of Industry Strategy Healthcare of Infor, shared the applications they are developing in the healthcare industry and how they work directly with healthcare professionals to specialize applications. These are just a sampling of the various presentations delivered at Inforum. A key theme across all content was Infor’s focus and differentiator on purpose-built solutions by industry.
Unbeatable energy – Maybe it’s just the vibe of The Big Easy, but everyone from customers to vendors to Infor executives were excited to be at Inforum. The level of energy was palatable from attendee participation in seminars to interactions at the booth. Conversations about how to foster more creativity, lessons shared from technological implementations, and speculation of where the next generation of business software is headed could be heard from every corner of the show floor.
Momentum – Team Avaap is ready to carry the momentum of Inforum forward and help our customers utilize what they learned, bring knowledge to those unable to attend and help our customers optimize their Infor investment.
If you didn’t get to go to the show or want to hear details discussed in the Infor boardroom, join Avaap President and CEO Dhiraj Shah and the Avaap executive team for an informative post-show discussion on Infor’s technological roadmap, technology changes and other Infor Lawson updates on Thursday, October 16.
