Recently a client of ours was having a problem reading a file with the Data Iterator – for some reason it couldn’t “see” the file. They were able to use the File Access to check that the file existed – and it did – but the DI couldn’t see it for some reason.
While they continued to work on a resolution to the DI issue, I suggested another way to approach the overall design. Why not, I asked, read the file with the File Access node?
The File Access doesn’t just check for a file or delete a file, it can actually bring the whole file into IPA. From there you can simply set your Data Iterator to parse the data (FileAccess8960_outputData) the same way you would if you were reading the file from the server.
I’m happy to say that this approach worked, and that it might have another advantage. Now instead of reading each line of data from the server, the File Access allowed them to load the whole file once and then process it within the flow.
