Test Automation in the Cloud

It’s impossible to hear anything today without the topic of cloud coming up. For companies that haven’t made the move yet, it may be overwhelming to constantly be reminded of the inevitable move to cloud, but it doesn’t need to be unnerving. There is a reason the public or multi-tenant cloud market is growing at a compound annual rate of 22 percent. Cloud enables the standardization of processes across business units and geographies, for people to communicate and collaborate better, and companies to support transformation initiatives.

Moving Multi-Tenant

There are many benefits to moving to multi-tenant cloud, including lower total cost of ownership and faster implementation time, as there is no hardware setup involved, and users get faster time to value. A major benefit is the end of the upgrade cycle and time-consuming activities that take valuable resources away from strategic activities. With cloud software, IT is relieved of the burden of system maintenance and users have access to the latest version of the software automatically.

But, as with any new decision or project, there will always be cons to consider with change. The downside of automatically being on the latest software version is not having a say as to when your upgrades are done. You will be forced to the latest version on the software vendor’s schedule whether you are ready or not. This is where automated testing becomes very important.

With smaller, but more frequent, updates to the code it means you will always need to be ready to test. Most organizations do not have the bandwidth to test every week, due to the labor-intensive nature of manual testing. Time spent on data entry takes resources away from the business’s core focus and is error-prone– preventing software from delivering its optimum value. But anyone with IT responsibility knows they cannot go forward with the latest software without testing.

Cue Avaap Test Automation.

Avaap Test Automation (ATA) is an automated testing solution designed for Infor (Lawson) software that can rerun the same scenarios every time an update is made. This ensures that the application is working the same way as it was before the patch was applied, optimizing the IT team’s time as well as software performance. ATA can also rerun the same scripts for multiple scenarios. This means your team can setup various scenarios quickly using the necessary data to cover each test run. Automating the testing process means your organization is ready to move to the latest version quickly and with little interruption to the business.

If moving to the cloud is on your agenda, let’s talk about system testing. Automated testing ensures your Infor software works as it should without burdening users or IT. Schedule a demo to see ATA in action!
